As part of #WeChange’s Target II, “Seamless career advancement for female researchers from graduate students to seniors,” we aim to acquire the skills necessary to pursue higher positions such as professors and associate professors. We will launch the “Research Leader Development Course” in AY 2024. In AY 2023, we are piloting various components of the course, such as the Writing Challenge and networking events, with approximately 35 researchers in their early career on campus.
The kick-off meeting was held at the end of September, and the Writing Challenge trial began on Monday, October 16th. Early in one’s career, there is a tendency to prioritize administrative tasks and other services over writing and research activities. This can lead to a lack of research outcomes, which can hinder career advancement. This course aims to address this challenge by emphasizing the importance of daily writing and research time. We will all explore TIPS that value work-life balance (WLB) without sidelining our own research!
