The University of Tokyo was selected for the Diversity Research Environment Realization Initiative (Women Leaders Development Type) in the 2022 fiscal year and launched a project titled “UTokyo Gender Equity Initiative #WeChange”. As part of this initiative, the Office for Gender Equity of the University of Tokyo’s Center for the Co-production of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IncluDE) developed a data visualization project showing the male and female research activity at UTokyo. This project forms part of the initiative’s broader foundation-building efforts, aimed at raising awareness about gender equity among the wider UTokyo community.
This visualization of gender-specific researcher activity data was developed in collaboration with the Institutional Research of the Management Planning Department to promote diversity in the research environment at the University of Tokyo. As a result, gender-disaggregated data on faculty numbers and KAKENHI grants have been publicly released.
We are pleased to announce that the detailed data are now available on the UTokyo Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) webpage.
