On December 4th, the “Women’s Networking for the Future of Universities” event was held by the Female Researchers Career Development Support Working Group and with the cooperation of the 30% Club Japan(https://30percentclub.org/chapters/japan-2/)University Group.
At the Ito International Research Center on the Hongo Campus of the University of Tokyo, after greetings from Executive Vice President of UTokyo HAYASHI Kaori, a special lecture from TSUKAHARA Tsukiko, the President of Kaleidist K.K. was given.
Afterwards, mentors from the participating universities of the 30% Club, Iwate University, National Women’s Education Center (NWEC), etc., who are in positions involved in the management of universities and research institutes, such as directors and vice presidents, were invited. They talked about the landscape they have seen since becoming involved in management, and what they were able to achieve and what was the advantages of their current position.
Afterwards, workshops where mentee faculty members from UTokyo and other universities divided into groups with one or two mentors and asked them to write down “what they would like to accomplish if they were involved in the management of an organization” was held. Business cards were actively exchanged before the event even started, and it was a meaningful meeting filled with laughter from beginning to end.
